In a nutshell

  • GSP Garage repairs windscreen chips, replaces windscreens and restores headlights in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife.
  • At GSP Garage, restoring both headlights costs from €45 and a new windscreen from €250, including IGIC.
  • A chip smaller than a €2 coin and outside the driver's line of sight can usually be repaired without replacing the windscreen.
  • Many insurance policies cover glass, so it is worth checking yours before you pay.

Repair the chip or replace the windscreen

If the chip is small and not in front of the driver, it is filled with resin and stops spreading. If it is already a crack or sits in the driver's line of sight, the windscreen has to be replaced. With heat and temperature changes a chip spreads quickly, so do not leave it.

Yellowed headlights

The Canary sun burns headlight plastic and turns it cloudy. The lights get dimmer and the ITV, the Spanish MOT, can fail them. We sand, polish and seal them with a protective lacquer so the result lasts.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a new windscreen cost in Tenerife?

From €250 including IGIC, for a car without a camera or sensors. If it has them, the price goes up for the glass and the recalibration. Check first whether your insurance covers glass.

Can a windscreen chip be repaired?

Yes, if it is smaller than a €2 coin and not in the driver's line of sight. It is filled with resin and stops spreading.

How much does headlight restoration cost?

From €45 for both, including IGIC. We sand, polish and seal them with a protective lacquer so they do not yellow again so soon.

Will a car with yellowed headlights pass the ITV?

It may not. If the beam is weak or badly aimed, the ITV, the Spanish MOT, records it as a defect. Restoring them is usually enough to get them shining properly again.
