Your rights

Your rights and our repair guarantee.

What Spanish law guarantees you when you leave your car at a garage, and how we comply. It is set out in Royal Decree 1457/1986, which regulates vehicle repair workshops.

A written quote

You are entitled to a written quote before any repair. It shows the price of parts and labour and the completion date, and it is valid for at least 12 working days.

We do not start without your agreement: your signature on the quote, or your express waiver of it.

Drop-off receipt

When you leave the car, we give you a receipt (resguardo de depósito) with the workshop's details, yours, the number plate, the mileage, the work we are going to do and the expected completion date. Keep it: you need it to collect the car.

The receipt also has the code to check how your car is getting on from your phone.

If another fault turns up

If we find a fault that was not in the quote once the car is stripped down, we tell you within 48 hours at most and do not repair it without your agreement.

Replaced parts and invoice

We hand you the replaced parts unless you tell us you do not want them. The invoice itemises every part, the labour and the IGIC (the Canary Islands sales tax).

Storage charges

Once we tell you the car is ready, or if you turn down the quote, you have 3 working days to collect it. After that, the workshop may charge for storage.

Repair guarantee

Every repair is guaranteed for 3 months or 2,000 km from collection, whichever comes first. That is the guarantee Spanish law requires for cars (Royal Decree 1457/1986, article 16).

It covers the whole repair: parts and labour.
If a part has a longer guarantee of its own, that applies to the part.
It applies as long as the car is used normally and no one else works on that repair.
For commercial vehicles, the legal guarantee is 15 days or 2,000 km.

Official complaint forms

Official complaint forms (hojas de reclamaciones) are available at the workshop. Ask for one and we give it to you on the spot. We will reply in writing within one month at most.

If you are not happy with our reply, you can go to your town hall's consumer information office (OMIC) or to the Canary Islands Government's Directorate-General for Trade and Consumer Affairs.
